A Brief introduction on Badrinath Dham
Badrinath is one of the most renowned dham among four dhams and known for Holiest Hindu Pilgrimage in India. The place is well known for Lord Vishnu temple and thus acknowledged as Badrinath temple which comes amongst 108 divya desams incarnation (Lord Vishnu). It is located at Chamoli district in Uttarakhand of India and situated at an altitude about 3410 meters above sea level.
As one of the holy places for Vaishnavites, Badrinath is a vital part of “MainChardham of India" as well as "Chota Char Dham Yatra. Several other temples such as Panch Badri temples, Adi Badri, Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri are also situated in Badrinath town along with Badrinath temple.
Badrinath temple is situated at hill at Garhwal region in the Chamoli district near Alaknanda River. It has various splendid features like pleasant weather, beautiful mountains etc. So beauty of town attracts many tourists who come from India and abroad. This is the most visited place of India recorded as 1,060,000 visits.
Adi Shankaracharya had constructed Badrinath temple but later it was modified by the King of Garhwal in 16th century by using Ornament Stones and attractive traditional carving that attracts lots of followers to visit this place. Badrinarayan idol was discovered in Alakananda River by Adi Shankaracharya which was placed in hot water spring of Tapt Kund. Appearances of both the temples Badrinath as well as Vihara temple looks similar.
According to Hindu legend In the time of Satya yuga , Lord Shiva sat in meditation for thousands of years at this place. Goddess Lakshmi, provided protection in the form of Badri tree, is wife of Lord Vishnu. So this place is known as Badrinath. Kedar-Badri was considered as the home of Lord Shiva, and this is the reason why the place gain a special attention during Mahashivratri Festival
At main gate and main sanctum you will see Main Idol of Lord Shiva, the vehicle of Lord Badrinarayan, Mediated Adi Shankaracharya Murti as well.
Being enter in this place, you can see many holy idol of gods like Kuber, Bhoodevi and Sridevi as well as sages like Nar, Narayan, Bhakta Narada.
