Places to Sightsee at Yamunotri

One of the divine temples of the state of Uttarakhand and Hindu Mythological Importance, Yamotri, holds immense religious values. It is one of the char dhams that are must-to-visit by the Hindu pilgrims in their entire lifetime in order to complete their Teerth and improve their next life. Each year thousands of devotees come to Yamunotri to pay their prayers to sacred shrine of Yamunotri Temple.

Yamunotri temple was crafted by the Maharaja Pratap Shah of Tehri Gaharwal. The door to the temple opens on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya and closes on the second day of Diwali. Best time to visit Yamunotri is between May to October. Yamunotri River is the major source for the water to Yamuna River which is one of the major and most important rivers of India. On the way to trek to Yamunotri, Janki Chatti is the midpoint that can be easily reached by Jeeps. It is situated at a mere distance of 7kms afore Yamunotri and is a renowned place for thermal springs. Many visitors stop by Janki Chatti to enjoy the sightseeing here and wash their sins in thermal springs.

Surya Kund
Amid several natural thermal springs in Yamunotri, Surya Kund is the most famous one. It is astonishing but water tempertaure of Surya Kund remains 1900F. Many Pilgrims tie potatoes and rice to cook it by immersing it under the water Of Surya Kund. After this, it is served as Prasad. So, religious value attached to the place is high, but besides there are many wonderful sights to lush green nature and extensive ranges that follows you all the way to Yamunotri.

Divya Shilla
Divya Shila is a rock pillar that is situated outside the Yamunotri temple and is worshipped by Hindu Pilgrims.
