Danda Nagraja Temple

Danda Naraja temple is a renowned temple that is located in the Garhwal region and an eminent place to visit in Pauri. The temple lures visitors from farthest corners. Danda Nagraja shrine is situated in the lap of nature and offers picturesque views of nature’s sheen. The temple attracts large number of devotees and pilgrims across the country. As per the beliefs, it is said that Lord Krishna came down at this place in the form of snake and crawled all the way up to the ridge to reach the hill top. The temple is made thereafter at this place and attracts several pilgrims.

Many locales and priests still belief about the presence of Lord Krishna in the temple and offer their prayers and sincere devotion to the Lord. Each year on the eve of April 13th and April14th, a big fair is organized at the temple and is famous as Danda Nagraja fair that enthralls huge crowd.

As per the tradition, Jaggery (Gur) is offered to Lord Krishna and served as Prasad. After puja, devotees ought to take parikrama of the temple. Near the temple there are certain restaurant and refreshment shops where tourists can stop by and rest.

The holy shrine of Danda Nagraja is located at a distance of 34kms away from Pauri and 49kms from Devprayag. To reach here, tourists can book a taxi or can take a bus from Pauri. Taxis are also from Devprayag.
