Blessed with natures’ beauteousness Uttarakhand is a renowned state of India. Located in the Northern region, the state is largely famous for its shrines and religious places. Inhabited by various Hindu deities, it is referred as “Abode of Gods”. The Char Dham here is the gateway to heaven for the pilgrims. Each year innumerable devotees visit here to take a dip in the Har-ki- Pauri afore they take move ahead for “Darshan” of four Dhams-Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. The religious significance of this place is immense and has been a center of meditation and salvation for many sages and acharyas from the early period.
The ideal journey starts with a dip in the Har-ki-Pauri which has the steps of Lord Shiva. From here a tourist ought to travel to Haridwar which is the “Gateway to Lord Vishnu” and reach at Kedarnath and Badrinath- where Temple of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are present and stand here magnificently over ages. Further, move to arrive at Yamunotri and Gangotri and offers prayers at the Temples of Goddess Ganga and Yamuna. Many pilgrims take the holy water of these rivers home to perform Yagyas. The water is believed to be pure and has the ability to wash away sins.
Besides, some other sacred places that deserve a visit are Hemkund Sahib, Rishikesh, Devprayag, Jankichatti and Hanumanchatti.
Hemkund Sahib is a place located in the Chamoli district of the state of Uttarakhand. The town is positioned at a high altitude of 4,329mts above the sea level. The word “Hemkund” literally means “Lake of Snow” and the water of this lake remains as cold as snow round the year. Hemkund is also known as the Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib and is a major pilgrimage center for Sikh community. The pilgrimage spot is 6kms away from Ghangaria and is a star shaped Gurudwara that is formed by white marbles and concrete. It is situated along the shoreline of pristine Hemkund.
Tungnath is a famous tourist attraction in the state of Uttarakhand. Situated on the Chandranath Mountain in the district of Uttrakhand, India, Tungnath primarily refers to the 'Lord of Peaks' which appears the Alaknanda and Mandakini river valleys. Tungnath is also considered as one of the holy Panch Kedar. The holy town of Tungnath is located at an elevation of about 3,680 mts and is about 1,000 years old.
Roopkund is a beautiful lake that is positioned at a high elevation of 5,029mts above sea level in the base of Trishul peak and Nanda Ghunti. It is famous as “Mystery of lake” as remains of horses and human skeletons were found here from the Paleolithic age. This lake 500-600 years old and its mystery attract tourists from different corners of the world.
Lacated in Pindari Bageshwar district of Kumaon, pindari glacier is in Southeastern part. Nature lovers will love the experience of visiting this place to enjoy rugged beauty and unbelievable tourist attractions at Pindari glacier. 5 kilometer is the length of pindari glacier and height is 6 meter with width of 3 Meter.
BKedarnath is an extremely popular place across the world. It is visited by majority of national as well international tourists every year due to its sacred significance. Kedarnath opens in the month of April- May and you can find immense crowd during this time. Located on the foot of Kedarnath and at an altitude of 3,900 mts, Gandhi Sarovar is a small lake and also referred as Chorabari Tal. In case you’re planning to have a visit to Gandhi Sarovar, then it’s recommended to go in the early morning as the season changes rapidly.
