History of Ranikhet
If you translate Ranikhet into Hindi, you’ll find its meaning as “Queen's meadow”. The place was chosen by Raja Sudhardev for his beloved queen Rani Padmini as their residence and that’s why the name of this place has become Ranikhet. Later on, the headquarter of Kumaon Regiment was established by the British Government. As the environment of this place is so amazing thus it is also known as summer headquarters of Government of India.
