Uttarkashi is a name of the town that stands up at the heights of 1352m above sea level in the state of
Uttarakhand. The place is known as the Kashi of the North and is one of the renowned towns.Situated
on the banks of famous Hindu river Bhagirathi, the place not only reflects the glory of Indian religion
that has been preserved for centuries now but also speaks loud about the traditional lifestyle and
culture that has been beautifully embraced by the locales.
Uttarkashi is home to numerous ashrams and several temples and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering.

kms away from Uttarkashi. Alongside, Bhali Dam and Ujeli Dam are few more interesting places. It is
home to many temples as in Vishwanath temple, Kandar and Devta Mandir. Nehru Institute of
Mountaineering- an educational set up that provides various mountaineering and climbing training
courses is also a key attraction.
